Richardson Racing enjoyed a successful end to the Porsche Carrera Cup GB season with a second victory of the campaign in the final meeting of the year at Brands Hatch.
The Corby-based team headed for the Kent circuit for the final meeting with the current specification car hoping to impress, with Will Martin, Josh Malin and Will Bratt all eager to fight for strong results on track.
Qualifying saw Martin lead the team’s challenge as he posted the fifth quickest time, with Bratt lining up in ninth spot and Malin taking tenth ahead of his first race on the famous Grand Prix circuit.
A tough start for Martin saw him bog down off the line and drop back to sixth spot but he soon reclaimed fifth from Jamie Orton before chasing down the squabbling top four ahead.
Grabbing fourth when Kiern Jewiss ran off the road, Martin then battled his way ahead of Dan Cammish into third and although Cammish then managed to reclaim the position, a red flag stoppage saw the result rolled back to the end of lap 14 - handing Martin another podium finish to add to his tally.
Malin moved ahead of Bratt at the start to run in ninth spot and was pushing hard for eighth when a spin exiting Stirlings dropped him back down to the rear of the field, with the youngster recovering to 16th by the finish.
Malin’s spin allowed Bratt to move up into ninth spot but he was then hung out to dry on lap ten when forced wide whilst fighting for position and dropped back to 13th. Recovering to twelfth by the finish, he would end up classified in eleventh due to a penalty handed out to one of his rivals ahead.
The grid draw for race two saw Martin line up in third spot and he quickly grabbed second at the start before the race went under caution for an incident further down the order. After the restart, he heaped pressure on Jamie Orton ahead before a fine move at Westfield saw him slide down the inside to grab the lead - going on to secure the win having also picked up fastest lap.
From 17th on the grid, Malin fought hard to battle his way through to tenth place at the finish, although Bratt’s hopes of a top ten finish of his own were ended by a puncture that forced him into an unscheduled stop as he finished the race back in 17th spot.
Martin ends the season fifth in the standings, with Malin - who was second best rookie - in seventh and Bratt in ninth. The team also ended the year second in the Entrants Championship.
